Grammy-nominated Ukrainian-British violist and conductor Maxim Rysanov is internationally recognized for his powerful musicianship, versatility, and inspiring stage presence. He appears regularly with leading orchestras around the world both as a soloist and conductor, and currently serves as Principal Guest Conductor of I Musici de Montréal.
Maxim is a passionate educator who gives masterclasses and workshops at institutions such as the Royal College of Music, the Yehudi Menuhin School, and Hochschule für Musik Berlin. He is also a strong advocate for new music, with numerous works written for and premiered by him.
His award-winning recordings and collaborations with artists such as Gidon Kremer, Janine Jansen, and Sol Gabetta have earned him recognition across both classical and contemporary circles. In this masterclass, Maxim shares his unique insights into viola performance, chamber music collaboration, and the art of conducting.
He performs on a 1780 Giuseppe Guadagnini viola, known as ‘Il Soldato’.

Simone Anelli
Collaborative Pianist
Simone Anelli is an Italian pianist active as both a soloist and a collaborative musician. Since a young age, he has cultivated a strong passion for chamber music, which continues to shape his musical perspective and drives his collaborative work, helping him maintain a refined and responsive approach in every performance alongside colleagues.
He currently collaborates with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra and with institutions such as the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan, the International Masterclasses of the Portogruaro and Pietrasanta Music Festivals, and the Accademia Milano Music Masterschool. He has participated as a collaborative pianist in masterclasses and advanced courses with teachers including David Geringas, Enrico Bronzi, Pavel Berman, Simone Briatore, Luca Magariello, Silvia Marcovici, Stefano Cerrato, and Jing Zhao.
He has performed at festivals and venues such as the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, the Italian Cultural Institute in Hamburg, the Sala Bianca of Palazzo Pitti in Florence, the Kammermusiksaal of Beethovenhaus in Bonn, and the Museo del Novecento in Milan.
He began his studies at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan and completed a Master of Arts in Music Performance at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano with Anna Kravtchenko. He is currently pursuing advanced studies at Pinerolo Academy with Roberto Plano.
